We do not breed just so we can have puppies.  Each litter is carefully planned, not just with the thought of producing a show dog but also keeping in mind that these are pets first.  Showing is only a weekend event, the dogs have to be able to live in a home and be good members of society  first and foremost.

When it comes time to decide which pups are going to stay here and which are available to pet homes there are a lot of things that are considered.   Since I am breeding for myself first, a prospective family doesn't get to come and "pick" out a puppy.  I get "first pick" and sometimes 2nd or 3rd.  If I think that several of the pups are worth holding onto a bit longer to see if they have show potential I will.  Just because your puppy is the first to be placed or the last doesn't mean that there is anything "wrong" with it.  It just means that for one reason or another this puppy isn't going to become a show dog.   Many times it is as simple as being oversize or undersize.  I make the decision which puppy goes with each family based on the puppies personality and my discussions with the prospective family.  I do my best to make sure that the puppies personality fits in with the families lifestyle.
